Are you Lohasian? What's that you say? Lohasian was a term I first came across in a Newsweek article back in June 2006. It was used to describe those of us who subscribe to the Lifestyle Of Health And Sustainability - LOHAS.
I think anyone who tries to live a green life is Lohasian or at least part. I personally think it's a great way to connect us all as humans instead of dividing us by races. So when people ask you what you are racially instead of responding I'm part Dutch, half French, and a smidgen of Cherokee; I'd tell them I'm full Lohasian! (the above racial mixture is not me by the way).
So how do you determine if you are Lohasian - it's easy! How many of you have ever seen the comedy stylings of Jeff Foxworthy? He has a stand up routine called "You know you're a redneck if...."; well for the LOHAS community it's kind of the same:
- If you've arranged your living room furniture following the guidelines of feng shui you're probably Lohasian.
- If you own an exercise ball, mini trampoline, or yoga mat you're probably Lohasian.
- If you've used or even know what a Neti pot is you're probably Lohasian.
- If your DVD collection consists of "Seven Years in Tibet", "Contact" (a personal fave), and "Pay It Forward", you're probably Lohasian.
- If you make your own biodiesel, recycle, and buy organic you're probably Lohasian.
- and lastly if Oprah, Andrew Weil, Marianne Williamson, and the holy Dali Lama form the new Justice League [non-cartoons of course :)!] you're probably Lohasian.
Here's a fun quiz that you can take to see how Lohasian you really are: LOHAS Quiz
